Who runs it?

It is administered by the Women’s Charity Association (WOCA) of Ho Chi Minh City, a voluntary non-governmental organization, founded under licence no. 623/ADUB dated 19/10/1989, issued by the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.

WOCA runs several programmes promoting the welfare and education of women and children in Ho Chi Minh City, including 7 homes for children.  WOCA employs two full time staff, Miss Yen and Miss Thanh, to manage and run the Ba Chieu Home.

How much does it cost to run the home?

It costs approximately US$100 to educate one girl for a year (uniform, school fees, stationery, transport etc), US$365 to feed one girl for a year, and US$700 (currently around NZ$900) a year to cover all costs for each girl (food, education, clothing, staff salaries,  household expenses,  medical and other expenses).  There are some additional costs for tertiary fees.
